ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG and ECE Industries Ltd. plan a joint venture

On October 16, 2002 ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG of Düsseldorf, Germany and ECE Industries Ltd. of Delhi, India have started the joint venture ThyssenKrupp ECE Elevator Pvt. Ltd. in Delhi. The new company has branch and regional offices all over India. ThyssenKrupp ECE Elevator has taken over the field operation of ECE`s elevator business offering a great choice to its customers in design, construction, installation, maintenance and modernization of elevators and escalators. Its product portfolio includes high rise elevators as well as machine roomless elevators.

The joint venture will allow ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG to enter the important Indian elevator and escalator market. It will be present countrywide 82 response centres located in all major Indian cities and regions. It allows the ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG to further strengthen ist strategic position in Asia.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator is the third largest elevator company in the world and is active in more than 60 countries world-wide with over 750 different business locations. ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG, with its some 28,500 employees, achieved a turnover of around 3.5 billion Euro in the financial year 2000/2001 (September 30). The product range comprises of elevators for people and goods, escalators and moving walkways, accessibility lifts, airport passenger boarding bridges as well as a qualitative service network supporting the complete product range.

ECE Industries Limited is a public listed company and is one of the group companies of B.K. Birla group. It is one of the leading manufacturers of electrical equipment and has created the second largest installed population of elevators in India. Furthermore ECE Industries Limited has a strong presence in the Indian energy meter and transformer market catering to the energy sector.
