TK Elevator Leads Escalator Renovation of Iconic Montjuïc Site in Barcelona

Düsseldorf, July 16, 2024 – TK Elevator, a global leader in mobility solutions, has been selected to modernize all 22 escalators that provide access to the iconic Montjuïc area in Barcelona. The escalators, originally built for the 1992 Olympic Games, connect Plaza España with the Olympic Stadium.

The new project includes complete escalator replacement, installation of state-of-the-art digital monitoring and remote control systems, and a multi-year maintenance agreement.

Advanced Digital Monitoring for Enhanced Control and Efficiency

Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) ensures smooth passenger flow in high-traffic destinations like Montjiuc by controlling the lighting and direction of its escalators. Through real-time system control, BSM extracts usage reports for optimal escalator operation and maintenance. BSM currently uses TK Elevator’s MAX Monitoring system powered by Insight at Montjuïc and was so pleased with the performance, they requested the system for the renewal project.
