TK Elevator sponsors Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History in honor of employee and inspirational advocate Meaghan Addante
Meaghan Addante joined TK Elevator Canada six years ago tasked with raising awareness within our company and communities around Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Not only was she a voice for finding a cure for CF, but she also lived with the disease.
Sadly, Meaghan lost her battle with CF on July 10, 2021, at 28 years old.
Through her efforts and under her inspirational advocacy, TK Elevator raised more than $500,000 in five years for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, a nonprofit organization dedicated to a cure for the deadly disease. After her passing, employees raised more than $45,000 through the “Just Breathe” campaign featuring a specially designed shirt in her honor.
CF affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices. Symptoms can include cough, repeated lung infections and inability to gain weight. There have been several medical advances against the “invisible disease,” as Addante referred to it.
In 2010, Meaghan posted, “Maybe I myself won’t be saved, and maybe I won’t find the cure…but maybe one day people will look back and say, ‘That girl made a difference.’”
This year we are national sponsors of Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History on Sunday, May 29 in her honor. And to ensure that TK Elevator continues to make a difference on behalf of people just like Meaghan in the fight for a cure.
All proceeds of team M&M will be donated to CF under the name of TK Elevator.
