TK Elevator supports the 9/11 Stair Climb at Truist Park
Over two decades have passed since the attacks at the Twin Towers in 2001 and its devastating impact is still felt around the world each year on September 11th. From donating time through volunteering to moments of silence across America, there’s a sense of responsibility we all feel to reflect and remember the victims who lost their lives.
In order to honor the firemen who risked everything for us, Jenny Jang, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, recruited volunteers from every TK Elevator site in Atlanta. We handed out water, snacks and Safety Ambassador comic books while offering our support at Truist Park during the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund Memorial Stair Climb.
In tribute to the firefighters who were on duty during the tragic events on 9/11, local Atlanta firefighters climbed 2,200 steps at Truist Park. This stair climb symbolizes the 110 flights of stairs the FDNY firefighters took to ascend the World Trade Center in their search and rescue efforts. Many participated in their full firefighter gear to show their respect.
Though we highlight the event we took part in, it would be a miss to not mention that this event is held across America and proceeds are typically given to The National Fallen Firefighter Fund. This organization helps fund everything from outreach programs to initiatives for surviving family members and the stair climb alone has raised millions for the nonprofit.
Since each location that holds the climb is hosted by local volunteers, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show our gratitude. This event also gave us the opportunity to speak to our specialized elevators installed in the new One World Trade Center in NYC which helped us provide hope and reclaim the Manhattan skyline.
