- Earlier this year, the Middleton facility earned prestigious environmental distinction for its energy usage
MIDDLETON, Tennessee (July 18, 2019) – thyssenkrupp Elevator will be hosting the grand opening for the new Middleton Medical Clinic today from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CST. The event will be held at thyssenkrupp Elevator’s North American manufacturing facility in Middleton, the site of the new clinic that will be run by West TN Health.
Middleton Mayor Jackie Cox, Hardeman County Fire Chief Tommy Seevers, and members of the Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce will be among the attendees for the festivities, which will include the ribbon cutting, photo opportunities and a tour of the clinic.
“Today is an exciting day for thyssenkrupp Elevator as we celebrate the opening of a new onsite medical clinic for our employees,” said Darrell Bolin, President and CEO of
Manufacturing for thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas. “We are proud to provide our employees with the tools and support they need to be healthy and successful in their daily lives.”
Earlier this year, the North American manufacturing facility in Middleton earned ISO50001 certification. ISO50001 is an energy management standard presented to industrial and commercial facilities that effectively manage all aspects of energy procurement and use.
To meet ISO50001 standards, thyssenkrupp Elevator had to develop an energy policy for more efficient use of energy; identify significant energy users; establish baselines and outline an extension energy improvement program; utilize data to better understand and make decisions about energy; measure the results; review how well the policy works; and continually improve energy management.
The Middleton facility was also LEED Gold certified in 2015 and, at the time, was the only elevator factory in the world to receive LEED certification for an existing building – the Middleton building was built in 1969. Since then, it has implemented numerous environmentally friendly best practices that has helped it use less energy and water and reduce emissions.
