Düsseldorf (Germany), April 17, 2025 – TK Elevator (TKE) Korea is thrilled to be recognized in the iF Design Award 2025, under ‘Product Concepts’ category. The iF Design Award is one of the most important and prestigious design awards in the world, recognizing outstanding designs across multiple disciplines every year.
Looking to the future, TKE’s award-winning concept design depicts aesthetic and user-friendly elements to its unique and innovative TWIN system, where two independent cars operate within a single shaft – a proven solution to optimize elevator capacity and minimize wait-times in high-rise and high-volume buildings in Korea and many parts of the world.
TKE Korea’s design team has envisioned a heightened user-centered concept design for TWIN. The concept design incorporates a seamless, curved exterior made of glass, and a differentiated and intuitive communication method to enhance user experience. The concept design’s envisions a Graphical User Interface (GUI) incorporates an Augmented Reality Destination Selection Control (AR DSC) feature, which indicates in an AR-enhanced environment the elevator car the user should take, and automatically adjusts the height to match the user’s height through an interactive display. This concept function ensures accessibility and convenience for all, including passengers on wheelchair and minors. The concept design includes vertical floor indicator displays to help identify the locations of the two elevator cars.
"Our concept design goes beyond just aesthetics. We visited TWIN sites in Korea, spoke with users and architects, and incorporated their feedback to create a futuristic scenario into our design. This collaborative approach helped us create a design concept that would better meet future needs of our users." – TKE Korean Design Team.
David Suh, CEO Korea of TK Elevator, added: “This award recognizes our efforts in continuous innovation ideation. By developing practical, comfortable, and customer-focused product concepts designs, we aim to take this feedback into real product development to enhance the safety and efficiency of urban mobility. Our objective is to establish TKE as the preferred mobility brand for Korean customers.”
This is the second prestigious design award TKE Korea has received this year. We are proud to have been awarded the Red Dot Design Award for our automated cabin cleaning concept, and we previously received the iF Design Award in 2015 for our 'Smart COP' design.
