Destination Control

In a traditional elevator call system, riders press up and down buttons, and elevators answer the call. This system works fine in buildings that have relatively low elevator traffic or do not experience “rush hours.” In heavy traffic situations, lots of buttons are pushed which results in many elevator stops and long wait times for passengers.

Destination Control was developed by elevator designers in the 1990s to address this problem. In a building that has multiple elevator installations, Destination Control systems analyze call data from elevator passengers and groups passengers going to the same or similar floors together in the same elevator. This cuts down wait time and makes traveling throughout a building easier.
